Sophomore standout Genaro “G” Villarreal set the tone early and never looked back, dealing two-hit ball over five strong innings while allowing just one run. He was locked in from the first pitch, keeping hitters off balance and in control all afternoon. When it was time to shut the door, Josh Barney came in firing — striking out two and slamming it closed to secure the victory. At the plate, the Pioneers were relentless, pounding out 12 hits. Villarreal led the charge with three knocks of his own. McLennan, Zuniga, and Franks each delivered two hits, keeping the pressure on all game long. Carrasco, Sowers, and Jaramillo added to the offensive surge with one hit apiece as the lineup stayed hot from top to bottom.
