“TRIO OF ARMS POWERS PIONEERS PAST MINERS”

Under the lights at Valley Strong Ballpark, home of the Visalia Rawhide, the Pioneers delivered a complete performance in a 9–3 win over the Miners. It started on the mound, where crafty left-hander Jacob Carrasco set the tone. Carrasco worked 5.2 innings, scattering seven hits and allowing three runs while keeping Miner hitters off balance all night. With two outs in the fifth, Heriberto Garcia came on in relief and slammed the door, bridging the gap to the final frame. Josh Barney closed it out in the seventh, striking out one and turning a game-ending double play to seal the victory. At the plate, the Pioneers’ offense was relentless. Genaro Villarreal, Jake Westmoreland, and Matteo Zuniga each tallied two hits to pace the lineup. Eli McLennan and Mason Sowers delivered in the clutch, driving in three runs apiece to power the scoring surge. The Pioneers will look to keep the momentum rolling in the rematch against the Miners on Friday, March 20th at Shahzade Park at Mt. Whitney. First pitch for varsity is set for 7:00 PM, with JV getting underway at 4:30 PM. Tickets available on GOFAN.
